5th Grade Field Trip Vote
As you all well know we have been busy planning this year’s Fifth Grade Field Trip. Ideas were talked about at our Committee meeting back in September and after much consideration and budgeting, three field trips have been chosen for your review and voting. Our main priority in picking an event was budget, followed by distance, as well as achieving educational and entertainment interests. All ideas were reviewed by Mrs. Westrack for approval and now are available for parent input.
CHOICE A
Tuesday, June 5, 2012 (Approx. 8:30AM to 5:30PM) Bronx Zoo (COST $35.00 per child and $41.00 per adult)
Itinerary:
8:30AM Leave Branch Brook via
10:00AM Arrive at Bronx Zoo (Group Photo upon arrival)
10:30AM- 12:30PM Rainforest Program which includes hands-on activities, small group work, visits from a couple of the zoo’s educational animals and an exhibit visit to the
1:00PM Lunch at the Dancing Crane. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch or you may purchase your meal on the day of the field trip at the concession stand. Pre-paid lunches can be arranged with prices ranging from $12.00 to $16.00 per person. We will not be arranging this until a few weeks before the trip. So please keep in mind food is not included in the trip’s cost at this time.
2:00PM We will begin our Scavenger Hunt and tour the remainder of the park.
4:00PM We will meet to return to Branch Brook!
This trip will require that each student attend with one parent. We would be using 4 coach buses. An additional parent will be allowed until the four buses are filled. This will be based on a first come first serve basis upon receiving deposits for the trip. The cost per adult includes the transportation, and general admission. Additional Zoo activities can be purchased on the day of the field trip if you choose to do so. A list will be provided prior to the trip.

Thursday, June 14, 2012 (Approx. 9:30AM to 4:30PM) Atlantis Marine World (COST $50.00 per child and $50.00 per adult)
Itinerary:
9:30AM Leave Branch Brook via School Chartered Bus (Children only). Parents may follow or meet us at Atlantis Marine World by 10:00AM
10:00AM Arrive at Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead (Group Photo upon arrival) Includes private party room rental, all day aquarium viewing, sea lion show, and activities such as the Tower Ride, Rock Wall, and Sub simulator rides.
Additional Activities-
Alligator Encounter- Kids will have the opportunity to hold and take pictures with the aquarium’s alligators.
Salt Marsh- Interact with the snails and crabs while walking through the water
Scavenger Hunt - Theme and details to follow upon approval of trip.
Critter Cart- Will be available all day in the party room with an educator allowing the kids to hold various “critters” including a snake.
Lunch is included and will consist of Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, BBQ Chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, coleslaw and tossed salad. Beverages and an ice cream sundae bar with cake, coffee and tea are included as well.
2PM to 4PM-There will be music and dancing with the Aquariums Mascots in the Party Room.
4:00PM Depart Aquarium- The kids will go home with parents. We are not including the cost of the return bus.
This trip will require that each student attend with one parent. The cost per adult does not include transportation. Adults will be required to provide their own transportation to and from the aquarium.

Thursday, June 14, 2012 (9:30AM to 4:00PM) Northport Theater “The Midnight Ride of Paul
Itinerary:
9:30 AM Leave Branch Brook via School Chartered Bus (Children only). Parents may follow or meet us at Northport Theater by 10:30AM
10:00 AM Arrive at Northport Theater for the live performance of the classic story “The Midnight Ride of Paul
12:00 noon Leave theater for St. James Sports Complex (School Charter Bus will take Children)
12:30 PM to 4PM-
Our group will have full use of the facility. During this time the kids can Roller Skate (skate rental included), jump in the inflatables, play GaGa Ball, Dodge Ball, Kick Ball, Soccer, Relay races, tug-o-war, and many other fun activities. The kids will receive 10 video tokens each as well as tokens for the Baseball and Softball batting cages. An area will be set up for dancing as well.
Lunch will include hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, pizza, bagels and beverages for the kids. Wraps, salads, pasta, pizza and beverages will be served for the adults. We will purchase an occasion cake, cookies and coffee to be served as well.
This trip will require that each student attend with one parent. The cost per adult does not include transportation. Adults will be required to provide their own transportation to and from the Theater and Sports Complex. Children will be required to go home from the Sports complex with a parent.
